  1. Hi Shawn
    This video helped me get rid of the rubbing on the heel pad, thanks!
    But… my left index finger is rubbing a lot on my right ring finger (I’m a righty and have a semi overlap grip). The side of the nuckle of the left index and the right side of the right ring finger (right side above the nail - below first joint) are getting painful blisters… I’m having to use tape, but probably not normal, right? Any suggestions? - Chris

  2. Huge AHA moment for me from 5:05-7:00, Shawn you’re THE BEST

  3. @yusailo
    If you feel it in the tip of the thumb, then you don’t have the complete package with the grip; see “golf pro lesson grip 2 wrist hinge” and see if you cannot feel the club resting under the index knuckle of the right hand;

  4. Shawn, I’ve struggled with a similar problem— practice swings are spot on and then real swing is slightly laid off with shut clubface. Would using pressure on the left thumb at the top of the swing as feedback work?? I’ve noticed the pressure is squarely into the tip of the left thumb when I’m “in the slot” but kind of off to the side when I’m not. The crease between the right index finger and thumb doesn’t quite do the trick for me in terms of sensing pressure.

  5. You are welcome;
    Just uploaded a nice refresher called “Golf pro lesson the insanity of golf”; thought the title would be catchy! :) Shawn

  6. Now I have a better explanation as to why I am having some right shoulder (rear) shoulder rotator cuff soreness. Recently had a cortisone shot due to the pain and lack of ROM. My body is not getting through hence the increase in pulled shots this past season. Turn more is the emphasis on the video you recommended. Thanks.

  7. This means that your body is not clearing properly in the follow through; see “golf pro lesson golf injuries” for more info on this; Fred Couples and Vijay Singh have the same issue! Shawn

  8. My right hand always seems to move off of my left hand in the follow through, feeling like I run out of right arm. I have strong hands but perhaps I have to be more focused on the tension as your lesson dictates. Very good.

  9. shawn this video helped alot!! One day I will have to save up and come get a lesson in person.

  10. well said! Thanks! Shawn

  11. Sorry for the late reply; crazy summer!
    Make sure you are staying focused on target and not on the ball; see “golf pro lesson how to repeat your practice swing”, “golf pro lesson target…” and “golf pro lesson through the ball” videos; Shawn

  12. Yes; we have that book too but my favorite is still his original work and the “Inner tennis, Playing the game” title by Tim as well; Thanks for the comment! Shawn

  13. …tension-free swing implies a tension-free grip…too much or too little tension interferes with rhythm , tempo and feel..

  14. Great discussion. BTW, Gallway has written “The Inner Game of Golf”.

  15. Great comment! Tiger was in a way better posture in 2000 when he won the US open by 15 shots; now he is too tall and therefore too close to the ball yes; but I love his pipes and to say they are too big is nuts but he is referring to today’s crappy resistance swinging where the big muscles would be in the way;
    He would have no issues at all with my instruction! :) Shawn

  16. im sure peter knows where he is…

  17. if i ever go to richmond hill club i am so getting an iron lesson from you shawn, i always tend to fat my shots, i think im sweeping rather than hitting down, i find if i try hit down on the ball i come over the top and slice across the ball! any tips?

  18. hey shawn,
    i’m sure you watched Player’s championship yesterday and are aware of Tiger’s slice problems. I wanted to know your opinion on this. Do you think he is standing lil too close to the ball? I don’t know if you have noticed, it seems he doesnt seem all that balanced after finish. and Johnny Miller commented about his biceps getting too big. What do you think?

  19. ahhh…good reminder!
    my wrist is fine now it was the interlocking grip
    that pulled the muscles..or tweeked them.
    i dont use the interlocking grip for driving anymore.
    and my fade is becoming RADICAL.
    thanks to your vids…

    ILL BE BOCK.
    :o)

  20. I think all you need to do is update your quicktime software; you can get it for free on the apple website; I just went to my site and it is fine!
    Shawn

  21. Mr. Clement, i went to your website…and i could not view your merchandise…Im considering buying your golf videos….
    Richmond hill golf centre looks fab!!!
    and Im already in love with the country club!!
    can’t wait to go there!!
    thanks!!!

  22. Thanks for taking the time to chime in! So many students benefit from these exchanges! Shawn

  23. Yes; very good reply from dutypaidrock; see also the “Golf Pro Lesson arm motion” and the “golf pro lesson bridging flat wrist with hinged wrists”; this has to release from a solid left side that is flowing out of the way of the arm swing; swing wide to a target! “Golf Pro Lesson Through the ball” Shawn

  24. Not trying to take over this vid with comments or anything (honest!) but I used to get pain in my wrist, and it was due to having a very strong left hand grip and then trying to hinge my wrists in an unnatural way to ‘correct’ it in the swing. Shawn has a great vid on that “Grip 2 and Wrist Hinge”. Might also be gripping a bit too tightly…?

  25. i went out today for the first time to drive some balls…and my left hand is killing me…
    is that normal??
    it’s my left hand,and wrist….(really hurts)
    does this happen to people often??
    thanks.
