Hi Shawn!
arms really have to fall? golf swing is all about letting the arms to fall? and let them fall through the ball ? and when I want to smash the ball I have to assist the momentum a bit? like child on a swing? when you demnostrate the chip followthrough your arms are in the same position as they were in the address. why right arm doesnt rotate /flip over left? in your normal swing you are flipping/ crossing arms right after impact .
@clemshaw - Hmmm? So - if you didn’t turn your body, you’d just be lifting your arms straight up in the air and then dropping the club head down onto the ball. When you add body rotation, the trick is to develop the timing that allows the clubhead to drop “straight down” onto the ball as your rotate past/through …..? ….?
@clemshaw Hey Shawn, I waited a few days with answering your question because I was going to play again yesterday. As a lefthanded player I have (a lot) of push shots (going straight) left incidentally quite severe. So that’d mean I dont have a challenge with controlling lag but rather sliding ?
Hi Shawn,
I bought your videos but I am still confused on letting the arms fall so I will describe my understanding of it. In my back swing do the arms fall straight down until the right elbow starts to contact the body then the body turns to get out of the way? Maybe it would help if you made a video with the arms falling without the body and shoulders turning.Just to keep things in perspective I am right-handed performing this with a 5 iron.
@urrurz So why was it too open in the first place?????
@clemshaw Shawn, I feel the video you reference to from this point is making things more complicated for me. With all due respect I feel you try to explain too much
I feel when my clubface is too much open it should not be compensated by closing the clubface at address or even stronger grip. I kinda feel it has to do more with me not handling my lag properly every time yet. The open club face is/could/should be compensated with enough lag by extending the rear arm through impact/fllw-thru.
@mebagga Correct! That would not be your job! That is gravity and centrifugal force’s job!
See “golf pro lesson tilted twirl”
Fantastic comment! Thank you! Shawn
@urrurz You said something VERY IMPORTANT HERE: Lag opens the face…YES!!!!!!! This is why my “golf pro lesson weak grip or strong grip” is such an important video because the proper grip-clubface relationship will ALLOW YOU TO SWING THROUGH THE BALL TO YOUR TARGET!!!!!!
VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO GET THIS!!!! EVERYBODY!
Thank you very much for this comment; Shawn
Shawn, awesome early season Swing Freedom Tuneup. I watched the Bobby Jones clearing left side video and this is right in line with what he was advocating. FYI you should add a Paypal donate $ 5.00 button on your new cool website for us to reciprocate when we receive a lesson that helps, just a idea.
I’d like to add that this feels even more true once you gain experience and try to speed up rotation pace. For example your crane analogy I think this is what feels similar to what I mean here. Once that huge ball starts the downswing it’s behind in movement. But since it’s a ball the side with which it is going to hit the wall doesnt matter. For the club however it does ofcourse
Lag most likely leaves the clubhead open. So to keep the pace of the arms up requires a ‘minimal’ amount of muscle
Hey Shawn! After months of practicing and trying to do what your videos show. I found out for myself that I needed to interpret your ‘getting the body out of the way’ statement a bit differently. You see, if I litterally try to do that I create lag between shoulder turn and my hands. At address your hands are in front of you. When you move your body out of the way on the downswing your hands could fall behind, therefor I focus on keeping my hands in front of my navel. Gave me straighter shots.

….so during the swing the arms and club just move up and down in front of the chest as you demonstrate in the video Shawn. The shoulders turn and the lower body gets out of the way is that correct? There’s no obvious rolling of the arms and wrists where the wrists end up actually touching each other? Greg
its awesome! ligts on !!! thx a lot ! ! !
Hi Shawn
When hitting thruh the ball , i feel like my left arm is getting pulled out of the shoulder ball bearing- but no presure on the right shoulder.
Would that be ok ?
Hey Shawn, the “great rhythm” tip @ 4:00 is great. I often had trouble feeling the weight of my arms and would sometimes manipulate my arms on the downswing. That’s not so much a problem anymore. Thanks!
@clemshaw ha! I’ve already ordered and rec’d your new dvd set and I’m about to watch disc 1 right now!

@Michael10659 Thanks Michael and yes, great guess! New DVD series (5-disc), new website and new forum! Let’s get to work!!
Shawn
@plopp1231 Let the body respond to the weight of the arms; don’t make the body go in any position; see my latest on focus; “golf pro lesson proper focus” part 1 and 2
@pokerlife123 You simply allow the motion to go in the direction you want the ball to start; do not try to DO anything; it is not the conscious mind’s job! If you want to speed up or intensify the centrifugal force in the swing, see my “golf pro lesson get more power and club speed” to get on track to get the feel;
Shawn
@pokerlife123 The issue is that your brain associates power to effort; and when you take away the effort, you tell yourself that you are not supposed to get the power; not so! Rhythm is timing and when you remove the obstacles, your body does not have to work so hard to get the speed! Shawn
@paulpm Well now you know that it is my new website and new 5 disc dvd series; same website name new digs including a forum where we can all chat! Shawn
@clemshaw Shawn! What’s the latest on the “big announcement”?
Can I pay in advance for whatever it is
