Your Guide To Buying A Golf Cart

Your Guide To Buying A Golf Cart

For many years you could expect to see golf carts only on a golf course, and usually you could only rent them for that round of golf. But a lot has changed in the golf cart world, and many golfers are finding that it makes sense to go ahead and buy their own golf cart instead of renting it.

Some country clubs are now allowing members to buy and use their own golf cart when playing the course, and this lets each member customize their own golf cart in any way that they wish. Golf carts are also extremely popular with players who live in a retirement community that has a golf course. Many are discovering that golf carts have a wide range of use, even being able to be driven on the street in some cases. In some retirement communities, golfers have outfitted their own golf cart with lights, brake lights, safety belts, and all the other necessary equipment to be able to actually drive their cart on the road. And then when they want to play golf, they just drive their golf cart down to the clubhouse and right onto the course.

So if you think that buying a golf cart may make sense for you, what should you be looking for when you buy? Well first of all, you will find that there are several different competing brands of golf carts that are available for sale. And most all of these manufacturers turn out a very good, high-quality product. However, golf carts are very different from one brand to another, both in appearance and in the way they drive and handle. Each brand also has its own strengths and weaknesses, and that makes it imperative for you to determine in advance how you intend to use your golf cart and then try to find the brand that will best fit your needs.

Unlike many years ago, there are quite a few golf cart dealers spread across the country. So usually you should be able to find some dealers in your general area without too much trouble. When you locate them, pay them a visit to test drive the golf cart models that each dealer has in stock. You never want to buy a golf cart without having driven it yourself under conditions that would be similar to those that you will be using it in. You don’t want any unpleasant surprises after the cart has been bought.

If you intend to use your golf cart for more than just off-road activity, or just on the golf course, you can always make the golf cart street legal as long as your local laws will allow it. There are no federal laws regarding the use of golf carts, so usually the regulations that govern golf carts are made by individual cities and states instead.

There are also plenty of accessories that you can add to your golf cart to personalize it and make it your own. Some of these accessories include windshields, different kinds of tops and sides, lights and much more.

When it comes time to pay for your new golf cart, you can expect the price to fall somewhere in the ,000 - ,000 range, although if you choose not to add on accessories, and keep the costs to a bare minimum, you may be able to spend less then ,000.

Whether or not owning a golf cart will work best for you is a personal decision, but for many people a golf cart can turn out to be a time and labor saving device both on the course and off.

  3. Hey Ron!
Have a look at my “golf pro lesson modern driver” part 2 as well as my “golf pro lesson set up for all clubs” and “golf pro lesson taut swing philosophy”; You will have everything you need in those; Shawn

  4. Shawn, I watched this video as I am having trouble figuring out how far away from the ball I need to be with my driver, i.e. the position of my hands. From what I can glean from this and your other video on the subject, it is to be determined by where you can swing and keep in balance. Is that correct? I’ve heard things in the past such as 1 fist away from the body. Any other thoughts on the subject along those lines? Thanks for all your great information. Ron

  5. Fantastic Charly!! Thank you for your great comments!
    Gracias! Please continue your great work;
    Shawn

  6. Thanks Browan!
    Shawn

  7. You need to see the “golf pro lesson set up for all clubs” and “golf pro lesson taut swing philosophy”; you are not giving yourself enough room to swing the arms freely towards the target; Shawn

  8. It just so happens that my first hole in one was in my 27th year of golf left handed 6 iron at 186 yards and the second was a year later at 167 yards with 7 iron right handed for a car; a Buick Rendez-Vous that was not given to me as I was a professional and they had not insured it for the pros…:( But is was for charity, so I did not press the issue; Shawn

  9. And by the way, I continue to thrive under your tutelage. I consult your video library here on YouTube quite regularly and with good effect. Even going back to very basic topics and having light bulbs blink on. The old “Yeah, yeah, that’s it” feeling you mention so often in your practice swings.

  10. Hey Shawn, I have a friendly bet going over this … have you scored holes in one both righty and lefty? I thought it at least probable, so I have bet a bottle of Moe Norman’s favorite beverage plus ‘I told you so’ rights that you have.

  11. Got your DVD about 4 months ago and have been a keen viewer of your video’s for around a year since I started playing. I’ve been having problems with my long irons (5,4 & hybrid) seem to be hitting the ground before the ball. Can’t seem to cure the problem any ideas. S through to 6 Iron I’m getting very clean hits 80-90% of the time.

  12. Very good instruction Shawn, i’m subscribing now. :-)

  13. Hi…I rarely leave comments on videos but I just want to tell you that you are the best instructor that I’ve seen…The local pga pro’s in my area don’t seem to convey lessons in the manner you do…You’ve tremendously improved my golf game over the past 6 mos…I hit my first hole in 1 after just two years of playing golf and have a 12 handicap (putting could be better)…haha…I wish I could have got up with you when you were here in North Carolina for lessons when you were at Pinehurst..thx

  14. Shawn,

I’m now reading the inner game of golf and the inner game of tennis, by Tim Gallwey. Fascinating books. bill

  15. that was because i used to see all your videos and i know all that you teach about the body, the hit turn the mental game etc is right because you have professional people behind of this and you don’t teach just for teaching you know your job thats why i consider you my profesional teacher.
thanks shawn now i am working in my effortless that have helped me to hinge the wrist and get more power and distance.

  16. 17. Shawn,
The book is on order at our Charleston public library. Upon arrival,I’ll be sure to let you know how things are going.
Without it, I’m still having trouble breaking 80. Last two rounds were 85’s. My three to seven iron shots are very inconsistent. Average eight greens in regulation per 18 holes. Chipping is great. Putting and driving are good. Lessons have helped a lot, (I shot in the 100’s five years ago when I took up the game.)
Of course, I also find your videos invaluable. bill

  18. How are you doing now Bill? Have you had a chance to read that inner game of tennis? Shawn

  19. Very good drill for both sides; hit some backhand shots with the lead arm, you will notice you need to be closer to the ball; then do shots with the trailing arm and you will need to back up away from the ball; you will realize some very important things! Have fun! Shawn. BTW, after getting my left hand broken in the late 80’s I was forced to practice my right forehand and left backhand for 4 weeks while the left hand was in a cast and won the very first event I entered when the cast came off

  20. Hey WR!
First you clean the original to expose the bad scuffs; then you present your case that the scuffs are not due to regular contact with grooves and are made by an outside agency; then you get the permission to switch balls which is well within your right under the rules. Shawn

  21. Sure! Spent a bit of time with Moe and enjoyed every lucky moment and had some very nice conversations with him; very very sound mechanics and BTW, he never gripped the club or swung the club as they describe in Natural golf; that was a hoax; the key is to make sure you are always in balance and you are never fighting the momentum of the swing; all my videos have this as a base in every shot I hit; I would recommend you get my dvd as it is chock full of these topics; thanks for the question!

  22. Yeah Man! Shawn

  23. hi shawn.. do you mind take a look at my swing and comment? thanks..

  24. Hi Shawn. I have been trying the one plane, rotary swing…..for a few years and I have had some good periods but not like I used to hit the ball. I was watching a few of your videos yesterday and thought I would go back to how I used to swing. I always felt like I was swinging with falling hands and the club would just drop into impact area without effort. I went to the range and I just let it flow. I wish you could have heard the compression I was getting. It was awesome. Thanks!

  25. wow, thanks for that tip…
